Network design & device selection is the most critical part of the whole process.
It’s my job to understand your usage & budget, help you understand the differences in technologies so you know what tier of devices is appropriate for you.
Taking careful note of the your intended usage of the network will determine the throughput requirements & subsequently influence the device selection.
For example: If a client’s use-case includes connecting to a Local NAS (Network Attached Storage) to transfer large files over Wi-Fi using their shiny new Wi-Fi 7 enabled laptop then it would be beneficial to utilise 2.5GbE PoE switching coupled with Wi-Fi 7 enabled access points. Upstream switches capable of multi-port link-aggregation, 2.5 / 5 or 10 GbE port availability may also be beneficial depending on the exact use-case.
Typically, most people won’t need that type of a setup, the latest & greatest tech also has the fanciest price tags. There is a device suitable for every use-case & budget.
The network is the backbone of any modern home or business thats why it important for it to be secure, reliable, performant & up-to-date with modern standards offering robust connectivity for all your devices at all times.
We use a minimum specification of Cat6A UTP for ethernet runs. Shielded & outdoor variations are used when/where necessary.
It’s important to carefully assess the intended cable run environments & choose cable routes & cable types intelligently to avoid crosstalk & interference.
PoE (Power-Over-Ethernet) is crucial in most modern networks, allowing data & power on the same cable.
Centralising high-capacity PoE switches allows for easy implementation of power redundancy for your network.
Versatile devices such as the USW-Flex & USW-Switch-Ultra can easily expand on PoE++ making them a dream to deploy.
Our networks are powered by UniFi Application consoles.
UniFi Cloud Gateway Consoles such as the UDM-Pro/Pro-Max/SE, UCG-Max & UDW are Full-Stack UniFi OS Application Consoles offering an all-in-one internet security gateway, network management & network video recording, allowing instant setup for small to medium-sized (Network, Wi-Fi & CCTV) deployments right out of the box without any additional NVRs or separate routers, These devices run the UniFi Network Application which manages all UniFi network devices such as network switches & Wi-Fi access points. UniFi Protect for powerful & feature-rich camera surveillance plus many more applications available on UniFi OS.
Key features that Gateway Consoles offer:
High-bandwidth WAN & redundant Dual-WAN ports for fast & seamless internet failover.
Internet quality & outage reporting.
VLAN-Based Traffic Segmentation.
Policy-Based Routing.
Content, Country Domain & Ad filtering.
Application, Domain & Country-Based QoS
One-Click VPN & Site-to-Site VPN.
Application aware firewall.
IDS & IPS (Intrusion Detection & Intrusion Prevention Systems) & a sandboxed honeypot feature.
The UDM-Pro range offers can easily expand to large-scale deployments with high-bandwidth 10G SPF+ ports.
To truly visualise the power of UniFi Gateway Consoles I would advise you to head over to Ubiquiti’s own website:
When you're done, don't forget to head back here & get in touch with us to assess your requirements, advise & provide a detailed proposal & install your new UniFi system.
